Do you want the perfect holiday themed “educational event”? Students and teachers love this literature and math lesson! Classrooms will have the opportunity to meet with Mrs. Claus via video conference to share holiday stories, traditions, and educational lessons. Some of the many educational concepts covered include (varies depending on the grade level attending):
- Compare and order whole numbers up to 10.
- Identify units of time (day, week, month, year) and compare calendar elements; e.g., weeks are longer than days.
- Name and demonstrate the relative position of objects
- Collect and organize data into charts using tally marks.
- Use patterns to make generalizations and predictions
- Describe orally the pattern of a given sequence.
- Predict what will happen next, using pictures and content as a guide.
- Recall information from a story by sequencing pictures and events.
- Answer literal questions to demonstrate comprehension of orally read grade-appropriate text
- Follow simple directions.
- Identify the characters and setting in a story.
- Describe the role of authors and illustrators.
- Recall the important ideas in fictional and non-fictional texts.
- Answer literal, inferential and evaluative questions to demonstrate comprehension of grade-appropriate print texts electronic and visual media.
