Celebrate World Environment Day by eating a Low Carbon Lunch and take a bite out of climate change! The Tread Lightly Low Carbon Lunch Challenge is an initiative to encourage youth around the world to reduce their carbon footprints by eating LOW - Local, Organic and Waste-free.
As part of this initiative, TakingITGlobal and the Centre for Global Education are presenting a video conference on June 3, 2010, 9-10am MDT, with keynote speaker, Margaret Sanchez, sharing the story of how she created her animated video, the Cheeseburger Footprint.

There are two ways to participate in the video conference:
INTERACTIVE SCHOOL – Your class will have a chance to ask questions of the keynote speaker. You will need to have the required h323 technology to participate in this capacity.
OBSERVER SCHOOL – Your class or school will be dialing in via h323 to watch the live presentation; however, you will not be able to speak or be seen on camera. You will be silent observers. If you do not have the h323 technology, you can also watch via Ustream.

There is no preparation work involved in joining this challenge, and all the resources and supporting materials are available at online:
1) Commit to taking the Low Carbon Lunch Challenge and share this information with your students and colleagues!
2) Pack a Low Carbon Lunch from now until World Environment Day. Start a paperless campaign at your school to encourage students to eat LOW – Local, Organic, and Waste-free. Follow 40daychallenge on Twitter for Low Carbon Lunch tips that you can implement at schools.
3) Access the Low Carbon Lunch lesson plan, for ways to connect the challenge to classroom learning.
