Once Upon a Time in Texas
Grades 2nd-4th
$50.00 per site

Students are introduced to the Texas frontier through reading selections from Sallie Reynolds Matthews’s book Interwoven: A Pioneer Chronicle , a pioneer’s firsthand account of life on the Texas frontier. Students will see artifacts from the Old Jail Art Center’s collection such as ropes, branding irons, spurs, bits, and the painting by Alice Reynolds, Presenting the Flag at Fort Davis. Students will also have the opportunity to create a personal flag.
*Materials - Teachers will need to supply each student with 8 ½ by 14 inches paper (legal sized) and crayons. *
