Join Dr. Dr. Chi-hua Chiu, Assistant Professor in the department of Anthropology at Kent State University and Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics at Rutgers University for a discussion of the scientific, political and ethical issues related to the discovery of the double helix. The discovery involved the rivalries of the two teams of scientists attempting to discover the nature of DNA, Francis Crick & James D. Watson at Cambridge University and Maurice Wilkins & Rosalind Franklin at King's College London. The movie also depicts the role of women in Science at that time. Students should be familiar with the movie "The Race for the Double Helix" and/or the basis for the controversy, and should prepare questions ahead of time for Dr. Chiu.
