Join us for an interactive tour of “Bring Me a Lion,” a contemporary exhibition of Indian Art currently showing at Webster University’s Hunt Gallery from March 19 to April 17, 2010. Students will interact with Tushar Joag, one of the most prominent contemporary Indian artists to date, and see examples of his work. They will also meet the curator for “Bring Me A Lion” as they view other works also included in the exhibition. As they view the works, students will be invited to experience what it means to be a “contemporary artist” working in and/or influenced by the country of India and Indian culture and history. How do the artists work? Where do their ideas come from? What media do they employ and why? How is their perspective different from, and similar to, other contemporary artists working today?
This program is recommended for high school students and is available FREE of charge.
An overview of the exhibition can be found at http://www.indianartnews.com/xn/detail/2178147:Event:187253?xg_source=activity.
