Grades 4-7 $150 for interactive (with matierals) $100 for view only (with matierals) This hour-long performance begins as Rooster demonstrates how he became his own teacher in learning to play the fiddle when he was a boy. He explains how music led him into other important disciplines. Animated storytelling, character voices, and sound effects immediately draw the audience into the saga of Axle Galench on his adventure-filled journey on Planet Mizmoe. Rooster weaves songs and poetry into his storytelling as he seamlessly begins reading from one of his books. Immediately following the reading program, Rooster leads the students into a forty-minute writing workshop. Rooster defines voice in a manner that students can grasp. He teaches students how to overcome writer’s block and demonstrates how to create lists by writing their ideas down on paper quickly. Students will learn how to ask questions that will turn on their creativity and then they write a one- to four-page essay based on an imaginary event. Learning the simple skills of this workshop will help students develop lifetime writing skills. Following the writing workshop, students will be encouraged to ask questions or share the stories they have written. |
