Grades 7-12: Celebrate Constitution Day

All schools that receive federal funding are required to conduct an event about the U.S. Constitution near Constitution Day, Sept 17. The Center for Educational Technologies® and Wheeling Jesuit University invite you and your students to share our free educational programming and events on Constitution Day and Constitution Week.Dr. Richard A. Baker, U.S. Senate historian, will be at the Center for Educational Technologies at 10 a.m. to discuss the Constitution and "The World's Greatest Deliberative Body." The event is open to the public. His talk will also be available via a webcast on this page. Also on this page during Constitution Week, Sept. 15-19, will be two video programs available through web streaming. These videos are appropriate for middle school, high school, and college audiences.Introduction to the U.S. Constitution, is a 15-minute video featuring U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia. Byrd is the longest-serving senator in history and is widely regarded as the Senate's leading Constitution scholar.Origins of the Constitution is a 10-minute video shot in Philadelphia at Constitution Hall. It weaves artwork and music into a short history of the U.S. Constitution, recapping the events surrounding this bold, new plan in self-governance, which was signed on Sept. 17, 1787.
