FREE Polycom Special Events - ANU School of Music BigGiG Music Workshops

Join us on the 29th October 2010 for the second event in the ANU School of Music’s Streaming Sounds Series, The BigGiG: A Singing Odyssey. This concert will feature over 1200 children from 11 schools in the ACT gathering in Llewellyn Hall at the ANU School of Music for a song celebration during National Children’s Week.

Those not able to attend in person will be able to watch the concert live online from anywhere around the world and sing along with us on the day. We encourage school and community groups to learn the songs in advance by downloading the sheet music and audio provided on the Streaming Sounds Website. Online viewers will have the opportunity to let us know you’re watching and send us comments to share with the live audience.

Live and Interactive Concerts Streamed to the World Stage

OPEN TO ALL SCHOOLS WITH ALL VENDORS PRODUCTS!

When: 29 October 2010, 11:30am – 12:45pm

Where: Visit the BigGiG Streaming Sounds Website and follow the Webcast Link. Here you will also find downloadable sheet music and audio of the songs to prepare for the concert www.music.anu.edu.au/streaming-sounds/BigGig.

Wondering whether we need to add this though (as the text there only mentions the livestreaming). This would go in before the ‘Find out more’ that is there currently.

Calling all Schools! Participate in our trial videoconference practice sessions

As an exciting and new initiative this year, the ANU School of Music is offering pre-event interactive sessions to schools around Australia and New Zealand delivered by videoconference. Led by our expert MEP (Music Education Program) team, these will be offered FREE to both teachers and class groups, as part of the School’s series of virtual trials. This will include the opportunity to meet other participating school groups around the country in a ‘Meet and Greet’ videoconference session prior to the concert.

FREE Grades 4-8: Dung Matters

Join Entomologist Frank Krell, PhD, who will discuss the importance of dung beetles to Colorado’s prairies and their connection to bison. Frank will talk about the relationship of various insects to their ecosystems and explore the Denver Museum of Nature & Science's zoology collection virtually with students while offering a peek at the breadth and depth of bugs. Students are linked with scientists as they broadcast live from their field sites or Museum labs. Scientists share new discoveries, demonstrate field research techniques, and answer questions from students.
