Gr 8-12 Students rebuild Haiti: One brick as a time

SAVE THE DATE!

STUDENTS REBUILD HAITI: ONE BRICK AT A TIME…

As the spotlight on post-quake Haiti dwindles, Architecture for Humanity, the Bezos Family Foundation and Global Nomads Group recognize there is still much work to be done to rebuild Haiti. Students Rebuild remains committed to Haiti's reconstruction efforts with a $500,000 challenge grant to rebuild stronger, safer, permanent schools in Haiti!

We warmly invite you to join us in this significant endeavor during the upcoming school year - one that will allow your students to interact with their Haitian peers, empower them to become young, global philanthropists and follow the progress of their fundraising efforts. So far, we have raised $106,223 in less than 6 months!

In the 2010-2011 school year, we will roll out a comprehensive Students Rebuild Haiti program that will include:

  • national standards-based, four-module curriculum covering Haiti’s socio-cultural and geopolitical background, school reconstruction and the education system, international relations and student philanthropy
  • live videoconference series from Haiti with Global Nomads Group throughout the school year (including an educator introduction session and a student wrap-up session)
  • webcasts that will feature Architecture for Humanity staff and other NGO members working on the ground for a live progress report
  • calls to action, collaborative projects and activities that your team can engage in throughout the school year.

Visit our "Field Notes" blog and our Facebook and Twitter pages for the latest news from Haiti.

VIDEOCONFERENCE PROGRAM REGISTRATION OPENS ON AUGUST 23

Become part of the Students Rebuild community, as we work together to rebuild stronger, safer, permanent schools in Haiti!

Students Rebuild is a grassroots campaign founded in response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti. It combines a $500,000 matching challenge grant with international design and reconstruction expertise and a global network of students and educators.

The campaign is a call to action for middle and high school students and educators around the globe to help rebuild stronger, safer, permanent schools in Haiti.

But, it's much more than a quick-fix, fund-raising effort. It's an opportunity for young people to see how they are connected to the global community while learning about the real challenges of rebuilding after disaster. Through interactive video, conversations with building professionals and live connections to Haitian students, challenge participants will learn first-hand how people can work together in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake to rebuild communities and lives.

We're in this for the long-run. We'll be here for Haiti, and for other great causes of need, as well.
Students Rebuild is a partnership among Architecture for Humanity, the Bezos Family Foundation and Global Nomads Group.
